Got the new poster for Scorcese’s Shutter Island after the jump. From the 2003 novel by Dennis Lehane (Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone), the film is about a two US Marshals who investigate the disappearance of a patient, on the psychiatric hospital Island named Shutter, who has committed a string of murders. The film is set for release on Friday, October 2, 2009.

A well-made trailer can make a piece of shit sparkle like a diamond. I think they should have awards for these things. That being said, I doubt Martin Scorcese’s take on Dennis Lehane’s Shutter Island is a steaming pile. It’s probably 180 degress from that kind of foulness. But then again, the last time Scorcese stepped into the thriller genre was Bringing Out The Dead. The release date is October 2, 2009.
