Roland Emmerich has a thing for distaster films (Godzilla, Independence Day, & The Day After Tommorow) and, further, destroying the sole symbol that keeps my red, white and blue heart beating: The White House. I mean, doesn’t having the USS John F Kennedy crush The White House seem like some kind of backhanded metaphor?
I believe movie-going audiences would LOVE to see, say, the Brandenburg Gate, Cologne Cathedral, Berlin Wall Remnants or The Lorelei blown up into a million different pieces on film. I don’t know about you, but I’m saving my ten bucks to see a real disaster movie – The Road – on October 16, 2009. We’ve got two 2012 trailers after the jump.
