I keep coming back for more because Roland Emmerich sure can make destruction look beautiful. Apple released the 2nd trailer for Mr. Emmerich’s upcoming apocalyptic film, 2012, today. John Cusack is playing the standard John Cusack character and Danny Glover is the President of the United States. Should be fun and in theaters nearly 3 years before the end of the world. Roland Emmerich has a thing for distaster films (Godzilla, Independence Day, & The Day After Tommorow) and, further, destroying the sole symbol that keeps my red, white and blue heart beating: The White House. I mean, doesn’t having the USS John F Kennedy crush The White House seem like some kind of backhanded metaphor?

I believe movie-going audiences would LOVE to see, say, the Brandenburg Gate, Cologne Cathedral, Berlin Wall Remnants or The Lorelei blown up into a million different pieces on film. I don’t know about you, but I’m saving my ten bucks to see a real disaster movie – The Road – on October 16, 2009. We’ve got two 2012 trailers after the jump.
